“Be still, and know that I am God!…”— Psalms 46:10 NLT
Why does it sometimes feel like a lot of things conspire against our peace and wellbeing? Just as you overcome one challenge, another seems to be around the corner waiting to introduce itself!
At some point in our lives, we will experience some form of affliction, ill health, financial worries, unemployment, a dip in spiritual fervour, etc. In fact, some are in it right now!
In those situations, God reassures us with the words of this scripture, “For I hold you by your right hand. I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.” Isaiah 41:13 (NLT)
Stillness does not mean a lack of activity, but rather a dogged resolve to place our confident trust in God. Is it easy? Absolutely not! But God gives us a measure of grace and faith to help us through those trying times and situations.
So, what are you going through right now? Believe and understand that God is there with you. He is in the midst of that situation, and He’s in perfect control. Remember, you’re not walking alone in your affliction or struggle; God walks the journey with you. He said:
“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…” Isaiah 43:1-3 (NLT)
Life is a test, shaping our character, releasing the best in us. Painless life is not guaranteed; what you are going through right now is part of life’s reality and you’re made to overcome.
Maybe you are saying you have done all you possibly could, but still, there is no evidence of any breakthrough. Your heart feels so heavy, it seems you are carrying all of life’s load. You think you have come to the end of the road!
Hear what the Spirit of God is saying to you in the words of this song:
Do not be afraid, help is on the way
I’ll be there for you; yes, it’s true!
Wherever the wind blows, you will never walk alone
I’ll be there with you, holding your hand
I will see you through; I understand because you are mine
So, don’t give up now, help is on the way. Even though you don’t know how, God knows and He knows your name. You are the apple of His eye; see through the cloudy sky. Your prayers are before Him; just keep believing and you will overcome.
