An Unshakeable, Everlasting Kingdom

They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom, And talk of Your power, To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, And the glorious majesty of His kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And Your dominion endures throughout all generations. — Psalms 145:11-13 NKJV

During Jesus’ trial, Pilate asked, “‘Are You the King of the Jews?’Jesus answered, ‘My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here’” John 18:33, 36 (NKJV).  Christ’s kingdom is not advanced by human weapons, otherwise His disciples would fight to prevent His arrest by the Jews. Christ’s kingdom is not from here, not of this world. The kingdom of God does not receive its power or authority from this world.

In another encounter with the religious leaders, “…the Pharisees asked Jesus, ‘When will the Kingdom of God come?’ Jesus replied, ‘The Kingdom of God can’t be detected by visible signs. You won’t be able to say, ‘Here it is!’ or ‘It’s over there!’ For the Kingdom of God is already among you’” Luke 17:20-21 (NLT). Jesus’ response to the Pharisees suggests that the kingdom of God does not come in a form that anyone can recognise in a superficial way. The kingdom is among them, and it was Jesus Himself. Jesus was saying He was the rightful King of Israel and had performed His miracles and presented His credentials for all to see, but the Pharisees were unbelieving.

The kingdom of God is right here and it’s right now existing as a spiritual reality in the hearts of those who believe and follow Christ. The kingdom of God will also be a literal kingdom that will be established here on earth when Jesus Christ returns. He will reign over this world as King of kings and LORD of lords.

While earthly kingdoms continue to exist, the Bible reminds us of a greater spiritual reality where God’s reign is ultimate and eternal. But we see efforts by the kingdoms of this world and their leaders to subvert the plan of God. “Why are the nations so angry? Why do they waste their time with futile plans? The kings of the earth prepare for battle; the rulers plot together against the Lord and against his anointed one. ‘Let us break their chains,’ they cry ‘and free ourselves from slavery to God.’Psalms 2:1-3 (NLT)

The kingdom of God is on the move. It is unshakeable, unmovable, and unstoppable. It cannot be hindered or terminated by policies of world governments, not by clever corporate organisational strategies, and scheming, and not by occultic or demonic activities.

Jesus is coming back again to set up His kingdom here on earth. He will set up a righteous kingdom where sin, unrighteousness and injustice will no longer reign.

As believers, we need to be spreading the realities of the kingdom of God. Also, to declare to the world His all-surpassing sovereign rule over all of His creation. Declaring that the kingdom of God is real, it’s unmovable, unshakeable, everlasting, and endures throughout all generations. Hallelujah!

Stay blessed,
