Welcome to Hills and Valleys
We started this site for a few reasons. To start with it is based on Psalm 23, verses two to four to be specific. It says:
‘He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honour to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.’ (NLT)
We have been married for over twenty years and in that time, we have experienced a few ups and downs. Ups – the birth of our daughter, buying our first home and downs, health issues (renal failure, brain tumour), unemployment, financial issues to mention a few. However, through it all God has been our Shelter, Helper, Friend and Guide. His word has encouraged and strengthened us through it all.
The third verse of that wonderful hymn, Amazing Grace sums up our story and journey:
Through many dangers

Toils and snares
We have already come
‘Twas grace that brought
Us safe thus far
And grace will lead us home
Over the years Alex has written songs based on God’s word and this will be the venue to share some of them. I have also explored creative writing over the last ten years and particularly enjoy writing fiction from a Christian perspective.
