Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me. —Psalm 23:4 ESV
The first week of the New Year has gone by. As you get older, sometimes it feels like you’re just doing it all over again! The same 12 months—January to December, Monday to Sunday, with 24 hours. Doing it day in, day out might seem boring. Some might dread entering another year because of their circumstances, where they’re unable to see a way out. Our hearts and prayers go out to them.
The fact is, even though the months and days make every year seem routine and somehow familiar, they are not. Each year and day is an opportunity to get up and praise the Lord for being alive, for His goodness, blessings, favour, grace, mercy and other numerous things you can think of. A chance to seek His face for what He has in store for you, because with Him by your side every year and every day, will be an adventure.
Just as King David showed us in Psalm 23, the Lord led him to different places—the green pastures, still waters, even the valleys — and prepared tables for him in unusual places. And that is precisely what the Lord wants to do for you this year: lead you to places you have never been before. Through circumstances you can’t dream of handling yourself, and to meet people you have never met before.
It will most likely not be easy, but it won’t matter because the Good Shepherd will be there with you to provide guidance, strength, comfort, peace, and joy. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV)
Are you ready to walk with God this year? Let Him lead the way, you won’t regret it.
“I know that your goodness and love will be with me all my life; and your house will be my home as long as I live.” Psalm 23:6 (GNT)
Stay blessed,
