Five Years On đŸŽ‰

This is from the Lord and is His doing; It is marvelous in our eyes—Psalms 118:23 AMP

When Hills and Valleys marked its first anniversary, we quoted today’s verse. As we approached the fifth anniversary and reflected on the Bible verse to quote, we couldn’t find any other verse that summed up what God has been doing more than this: “This is from the Lord and is His doing; It is marvelous in our eyes.”

We can’t believe it’s been five years! We are humbled that God has chosen to use us in this way. He has helped us through difficult times, such as sickness, tiredness, and writer’s block. Sometimes, it comes to Saturday mornings and we ask each other, “Do you have something for tomorrow?” and we both say “No”. Then God shows up and He does have something for us to share. So, we give God all the glory because no matter what we are going through, He’s there with us and always shows up – Praise God!

We want to use this opportunity to thank our partners, readers, subscribers, families and friends. The Lord has used you all to spur us on in many ways. Sometimes, just when we are wondering if Hills and Valleys is having any impact, someone comments about how they have been touched and blessed by the message. Or a family member, a member of the Church family or friend mentions how they have been encouraged and that in turn encourages us too. So, we are encouraged by every one of you and we say a very big Thank You!

Now, we look forward in faith to what God has in store for the next five years. Our prayer is that God will continue to show and reveal to us great and mighty things that we don’t yet know about Him, His word, the world that we live in and about ourselves.

Stay blessed,

LaraLex

  1. Laralex…you two always have timely words to share…..thank you for your faithfulness!! I am sure you don’t realize how a certain phrase that you used in today’s post sounds to some folks….It is popular to say ‘God showed up’ but it implies that God wasn’t present and that He just decided to ‘drop by’. It has a ring of disrespect like He was invited to the party and decided to ‘show up’. Someone suggested that the phrase got popularized from a scene in ‘Forrest Gump’. This short article expresses what I am trying to say……When God showed up – What Then Why Now

    1. Dear Linda, I have always valued your comments and corrections. This is what we at Hills and Valleys desire because we do not claim our articles are perfect. We used the phrase “God showed up” innocently to prove that God didn’t go anywhere but was always there with us. I read the short article and understand the author’s point of view.

We will be careful going forward not to use such a phrase to describe our relationship with our Heavenly Father.

By the way, I haven’t seen the film Forrest Gump but will do when I can.

Once again, thank you for challenging us to do better. We do honestly appreciate it.
