But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. — Romans 1:18-21 NLT

My generation has seen quite a few human and natural disasters in many parts of the world. Human disasters such as the wars in Rwanda, Iraq, Afghanistan, and more recently, Ukraine and Gaza. Natural disasters such as the 2004 earthquake off the coast of Indonesia that triggered a tsunami, killing over 225,000 people. There is the flood in parts of Spain, the California fires and the most recent earthquake in Myanmar. In all these tragedies, it’s not uncommon for people to ask where God is or why God allowed it to happen, or does God really exist.
The proof and evidence of God’s existence is evident in all creation because creation is the most powerful, indisputable, and unquestionable evidence of the existence of God. God has sovereignly planted the evidence of His existence in the very nature of man, in our conscience, for example, as seen in our moral laws.
The very fact that we’re here, alive and breathing, is proof of God’s existence. The trees, animals, our pets, rare mineral resources buried underground, and our fertile soils producing our food, clearly prove God’s existence. The natural world itself testifies to the existence and greatness of God, leaving humanity without excuse for not recognising, honouring and worshipping Him.
We live in a fallen world. To complicate matters, man has rejected God’s rule or at best, sidelined or relegated Him to the background. Man has always wanted to be in control and with this mindset, attempts to fix the world’s problems without God. See where that has got us!
God is not responsible for the problems in the world; rather, He is the solution. He is displeased and not happy with the state of affairs in the world. He “shows His wrath against all who suppress the truth in unrighteousness or by their wickedness.”
Speaking of the wrath of God, we sometimes object to this idea. We equate it with human anger, which is motivated by selfish personal reasons or by a desire for revenge. God’s wrath is not like that but is completely righteous in character because He is a just, righteous and a holy God.
The punishment and wrath meant for mankind, God has satisfied it on His Son Jesus Christ. The hope for humanity is that all who will believe in Jesus Christ, will escape the wrath of God to come.
Stay blessed,
