“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”—Acts 1:8 NLT

An important aspect of the Holy Spirit’s influence in the life of a believer is that He brings awareness to areas of a believer’s life that need repentance and change. This conviction leads to confession, forgiveness, and spiritual growth, drawing believers closer to God.
As believers become aware of where change is needed, the Holy Spirit enables them to bear spiritual fruit – “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)
Interestingly, the Bible refers to ‘fruit’, singular not plural. This is because the Holy Spirit produces one kind of fruit in the believer’s life, Christlikeness. The process of becoming more Christ-like is the work of the Holy Spirit, who helps believers reflect Christ’s character in their behaviour, attitude and actions.
Bearing the fruit of the Spirit brings great pleasure and glory to the Father. Believers will, however, need to continually abide in Christ and the Word of God. If this is lacking, it is almost certain that believers will bear fruits motivated and influenced by the flesh. “…Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing…When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.” John 15:5,8 (NLT)
The Holy Spirit fosters a sense of community among believers. He encourages unity, mutual love and breaks down barriers of division, promoting harmony and cooperation among members of the body of Christ.
I have known the Holy Spirit to be a true and great Helper not just in spiritual matters. The Holy Spirit is ever ready and available to help believers in their secular, academic and private lives. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” John 14:26 (NKJV)
There’s so much more about the Holy Spirit and what He does that no number of books in the world can be written to record them all. Suffice to say that, believers need to make more room for the Holy Spirit in their everyday life to see His power at work.
Stay blessed,
