You Also Be Ready!

“So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into. You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.” — Matthew 24:42-44 NLT

The war in Gaza has reopened and, in many ways, re-intensified the debate about the subject of The End Times.

Many are asking if there’s any connection between the conflict and Bible prophesies about the End Time. In fact, some have dared to make the connection!

Eschatology is the study of End Times prophesies and the events of the Last Days. The End Times prophesies are both intriguing and baffling to a lot of people. Some preachers have become “experts” on the subject and would gladly explain the prophesies in the book of Daniel, Ezekiel and Revelation.

On the other hand, there are preachers who are either too scared, or untrained and unequipped to preach on it. There are others who are either in denial of the truth of the prophesies or have decided to be neutral.

Jesus had a position about the End Times, and the events that will precede His second coming. In Matthew 24, Jesus explained to His disciples the signs of the times and the end of the age. He spoke about false people claiming to be the Messiah, nations warring against each other, famines, earthquakes and many other troubles.

Jesus’ position was very clear. He said He’s coming back again and that they should be ready. “You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.” Matthew 24:44 (NLT)

I have been a believer for over 30 years, however, it’s only in the last 4 years that I’ve began to study the Bible with intent. Before now, I would just read the Bible without studying it and mainly rely on and accept what my pastors say.

I have come to understand that there are no ordinary prophesies, no ordinary events and no ordinary promises. God’s Word is perfect and true. The very essence of your words is truth; all your just regulations will stand forever.” Psalms 119:160 (NLT)

The second coming of Jesus Christ will be characterised by series of events. In fact, some events have already happened, and we are currently witnessing some right now!

If God said He will do something, no one can stop it from happening. Regardless of whether we like it or not, whether we believe it or not, the Word of God will come to pass. Just because you don’t believe it does not make God’s Word futile or irrelevant.

Jesus’ return is certain, and it is imminent. “This is what the Lord says, ‘Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts…’” Joel 2:12 (NLT)

Jesus wants us to be ready whether His coming back is sooner than expected or delayed. Are you ready for the return of King Jesus?

Stay blessed,
