Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. – Colossian 3:23-24 ESV

During my recent travel, I met a brilliant artist. Initially, when I was told that he was an artist, I thought it was just his hobby. But once we got talking about his inspirations, accomplishments and experiences, I realised it was his career and life.
On seeing his work, it blew my mind, it was stunning! It was the first time I had come so close to an artist, seeing and discussing their work.
During our conversation, he said something that stayed with me. He said his advice to young and upcoming artists is always – “Don’t stop working; keep at it continually because the breakthrough can happen at any time, and they need to be ready.” He added that if he was asked to produce 300 pieces of his work, it wouldn’t be a problem and I saw evidence of it.
The whole experience got me thinking. Humans were created and designed to work – God’s master plan. It started with Adam who worked the grounds of the Garden of Eden, and the work we all do keeps our world ticking over. God understood that, and blessed every individual differently so we can all make our contribution in our lifetime and glorify Him in the process.
Apostle Paul encourages us, as Christians, to approach whatever work we do with our might and as unto the Lord, remembering that He is the Rewarder. And it doesn’t matter what type of work it is, whether secular, professional, church or community work; paid or unpaid.
Jesus also gave a stark warning about how we are expected to work. “Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming…Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. ‘Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions. But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants and eats and drinks with drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know and will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites…’” Matthew 24:42, 44-51 (ESV)
So, whatever you find yourself doing today, keep at it with all your might! “Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give in.” Galatians 6:9 (Amplified)
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.” Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NKJV)
Stay blessed,
