Spheres of Influence

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them…” Ephesians 2:10 NKJV

The word workmanship carries the meaning of one with a degree amount of skill, expertise, and know-how to produce or make something or get a job done.

God, as a master craftsman, uniquely fashioned you, you didn’t “just happen”! You are not a product of a blind random accidental occurrence or circumstance. A lot of thought went into you. God intricately shaped you right inside your mother’s womb. You are simply a work of art, a masterpiece!

Perhaps you don’t feel like you’re a masterpiece or a work of art maybe because of your flaws, shortcomings, health and financial struggles. You may look in the mirror and what you see convinced you that you are not unique, gifted or have any good thing to offer. You see yourself as a failure.

Friend, see yourself as God sees you, unique, gifted and exceptionally beautiful. God never made a mistake concerning you. You are a masterpiece of His workmanship having all His divine attributes.

You are beautiful and blessed in the eyes of your creator, and you should believe it, accept it, and celebrate that truth.

Your life is not random. You are part of something much bigger. God created you in Christ Jesus for good works, even with the assumed flaws, shortcomings, struggles and all.

Where we live, work, shop, and hang out with family and friends has been divinely assigned to us as our spheres of influence. To positively influence and impact the lives of people we encounter.

Maybe you are trying desperately to change where you are currently because you believe it’s dull, boring, uninteresting, and unproductive. Have you considered that God may have purposely placed you where you are to do those good works, He prepared in advance for you to do?

Our everyday life should be filled with excitement like going on a treasure hunt or opening a wrapped gift. Whenever we are in our “spheres of influence”, we should be saying, “Okay Lord, what treasure am I going to find today or where will the treasure be today?”

You may be at a supermarket checkout and the customer in front of you suddenly realised they haven’t got enough cash to pay for one item. And at that very moment, the Spirit of God say to you “pay the balance”. If you heed and act, you have found your treasure for the day. That simple act of obedience and good work could open the door for something much greater than simply paying for someone’s shopping.

God expects us to look out for those treasure troves in our spheres of influence. Remember God has done the background work; all we need to do is locate where the treasures are and walk right into them. We must look at our abilities, gifts, and experiences whether they’re good or bad, positive or negative; our experiences are never wasted with God.

In determining what we do, we must first seek God’s direction in all things. So, go hunting and have a fantastic treasure-filled week!

Stay blessed,
