Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved. — Psalms 80:3; Restore us, O Lord, and bring us back to you again! Give us back the joys we once had! – Lamentations 5:21 NLT

Many would have heard about the recent economic turmoil in the UK with the government reversing the minibudget economic plans that caused instability in the markets. The most notably of these U-turns is retaining the 45% additional rate of Income Tax for someone earning over £150,000.
It is really disappointing how the media seem to make U-turns to be a bad thing. We hear how the media put pressure on the government regarding their policies. And when they make U-turns, they are criticised for being indecisive and not thinking policies through before implementation.
As Christians, we may be required to make U-turns in our lives. This is especially so if we are heading down the wrong track or where sin is involved.
Are you dealing with appetites or desires that are out of control? Do you struggle with cravings that brings moments of pleasure followed by days of remorse, frustration and feeling of helplessness? Do you go through periods of self-denial, only to be followed by seasons of indulgence that leave you defeated and condemned? Do not despair, there is grace and help available. There’s salvation in Christ Jesus. He can set you free!
Are you tired of saying, “I’m not going there, I’m not going to look at it, I’m not going to listen to it, I’m not going to do it,” only to go out and do the very thing you didn’t want to do?
Apostle Paul faced the same thing that made him say:
“And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong.” Romans 7:18-21 (NLT)
Some people don’t want to appear weak and indecisive, so they’d rather stay on a wrong or unpopular path than make a U-turn. As believers, this is a dangerous place to be. Whenever we miss the mark or stray from the path of truth, God desires us to make our way back to him and the truth of His words.
U-turns take humility and courage. We should never be afraid to turn around if the road or path we’re on is leading us away from God and His truth.
“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.” Romans 8:1-2 (NLT)
You say you have tried but failed. Ask God to turn you back to Himself and He will.
Stay blessed,
