You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. – Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV)
The world’s idea of peace is predicated on what you “bring to the table” and dependent on mutual agreement. When this is lacking, there’s usually conflict and war.

We sometimes think that the possession or acquisition of certain things in life guarantees peace of mind. We also think that to experience peace is to live without conflict or trouble.
Peace is not dependent on having things such as a qualification, a dream job, a fat bank balance, getting married, living in your dream house, etc. The possession of these things is good, and I believe God desires them for His children. But to know and experience true and perfect peace, we need to learn to keep our mind focused on God, trusting Him alone.
It is worth mentioning that to have our mind stayed or steadfast on God, this requires our total reliance, dependence, confident trust, and security in the Lord. This also means a steadfast, unwavering trust lacking any trace of double-mindedness.
“But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to tell you, for a doubtful mind will be as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind; and every decision you then make will be uncertain, as you turn first this way and then that…” James 1:6-8 (TLB)
As I’m writing this message, if I’m to be honest, I realise how difficult having or exercising this level of trust in God can be. Sometimes, I get rattled, restless, and my peace really gets skewed whenever my focus or attention is centred on the issues I’m dealing with.
We should guard against letting our minds wander or dwell on things that disturb or rub us of our joy and peace. This may include health worries, discouragement, influence and sentiments of others, political and economic issues of our day.
Psychologist describes a “Peaceful behaviour” as resulting from a “peaceful inner disposition.” Some expressed the belief that peace can be initiated with a certain quality of inner tranquillity that does not depend upon the uncertainties of daily life. The acquisition of such a “peaceful internal disposition” for oneself and others can contribute to resolving otherwise seemingly irreconcilable competing interests.
Well, I say this is the work of the Holy Spirit! He alone initiates and guarantees this “peaceful internal disposition”.
God’s type of peace is not a state of excitement or happiness, but when one’s mind is quiet and satisfied even if the surrounding environment is chaotic.
Jesus, while comforting His disciples said, “Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]” John 14:27 (AMP)
“And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].” Philippians 4:7 (AMP)
O Lord God, we admit that we do not often trust you enough. We often have a plan B whenever we approach you with a request, not trusting in your leading and counsel. O Lord change our attitude and teach us how to put our confident trust in you. Teach us to trust in your Almightiness, in your greatness and in your promises. Amen.
Stay blessed,
