Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. – Hebrews 10:23 (NKJV)

Over the last couple of months, I have experienced the faithfulness of God anew. So, on reading today’s Bible verse, it prompted a deeper reflection on the faithfulness of God. Sometimes we look at our situation or circumstances and think that there is no way out, but Jesus said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26 (ESV)
Every time you face a difficult patch in life, it is an opportunity to grow, to turn to God and trust Him to sort you out. The problem is that we are too impatient and expect an instant positive answer to our problem. We need to understand that God cannot be hurried but we can be rest assured that He’ll not be a minute late in answering us. We need time to grow and learn the valuable lessons He’s teaching us while waiting.
Waiting, however, doesn’t mean you sit back and do nothing. It’s an opportunity to trust Him to enable you to make the right decisions, contact with the right people or see the right doors of opportunity open and so on.
Every step you take, you are trusting Him to direct it in the right direction. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
A hymn that I’ve loved over the years, has recently been played regularly on the radio. It talks of the faithfulness of God and it’s also a prayer. The hymn was written by Louisa M. R. Stead in 1882.
‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
Just to know, “Thus says the Lord!”
Refrain:
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!
I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.
The thing is, before you can take God at His word, you have to know what His word says. And that is only possible if you study and meditate on it regularly. Then as situations and circumstances arise, the Holy Spirit will remind you of the Word of God that relates to your issue and help you pray and stand on that word.
This doesn’t always guarantee that your problem will be solved straightaway. But no matter how long the wait, the Holy Spirit will sustain and strengthen your faith until you get an answer. Also, not all the time will the answer be what you want, but no matter the outcome you will see God’s faithfulness. Because He knows you better and knows how best to meet your needs.
He has done exactly that for me, and my family and I know He will do it for you too!
Stay blessed,
