“And you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save His people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)
It is not so much about the name but the person behind the name!

The name of Jesus represents all His finished work on the cross, fulfilling God’s divine plan of redemption and salvation, victory over sin and death, and victory over the devil’s schemes, strategies, and his entire realm.
The name Jesus represents everything about the character and life of Jesus as one with the Father and the Holy Spirit, the creator of the universe, the giver of life and sustainer of life.
In the olden days, people could speak or act in the name of someone because the name represents authority and power. Jesus Christ has given Christians the right and authority to use his name:
“And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” (John 14:13-14)
“Whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” (John 16:23-24)
Then the seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in Your name.” (Luke 10:17)
There is power in praying in the authority of Jesus Christ, by the authority He has given us, consistent with His character, His desire, and His will.
Most of our prayers to God are made and should be made “in the name of Jesus”. To pray in the name of Jesus, is to pray in the character, life, wisdom, grace and all the power and authority that God has given to Jesus.
The name Jesus is more than just a name.

- God raised Jesus from the dead, elevated Him to His right hand, and gave Jesus a name above “every name that is named, not only in this age but that which is to come.” (Ephesians 1:20-21)
