Eve (Part 1)

Hello, my name is Eve. I’m over a hundred years old, the thing is, I can’t say how old I am exactly. All this counting of years started after all the trouble. One thing I can’t believe though, is that the trouble is all my fault. Yes, my fault!

Before all this started, we – that is Adam and I – were in this lovely garden. To tell you the fact, no words can describe it. But I can say this, it was PERFECT! It was so peaceful and even all the animals got along. We weren’t afraid of any of them, they weren’t afraid of us or each other. You won’t believe it, we played and talked with every single one of them. All the trees in the garden had delicious fruits, we ate almost all of them at our leisure. Well, except for one that God said we can’t have, and it was the one that caused all the problem. Really, I don’t understand why it was there if we weren’t meant to eat it.

Anyway, we had everything we needed in that garden even rivers flowed from it. Various types of water flowed from one source into different directions. One was hot, it was the one we had mostly in the mornings. The other was cold, we preferred that at the height of a hot day. Another had a sweet taste and we enjoyed that after dinner, it had a relaxing effect which helped us sleep well at night. The fourth was just so refreshing that we use it for everything else. Even the animals drank from it too.

Even though God commanded us to look after the garden and animals, there was hardly anything to do. The more I think about it, everything seemed to look after themselves and we were just overseers.

Do you know what I miss most?

It was God visits in the evenings. Can you believe it? The Creator of all these magnificent animals, the wonderful plants and trees, and beautiful flowers, visiting us! He would talk with us for ages.  His voice was so tender and loving. It enveloped me like a warm blanket that sometimes I just fell into a very peaceful slumber. Everything was so perfect that nothing can be compared to it anymore.

On that fateful day… (To be continued)

Stay blessed,

Lara
